Age-Friendly Community

The City of Solana Beach has joined the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities to improve the community and enhance livability.
Our Partners
- AARP California
- The San Diego Foundation
- San Diego State University Social Policy Institute
These valuable Partners will help guide our community through the Age-Friendly Network's assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation process.
Our Goal
Our goal is to improve the quality of life for every resident as demographics change. The population of the Unites States is rapidly aging and by 2030, one of every five people in the U.S. will be 65 or older. And, by 2035, the number of adults older than 65 will be greater than the number of children under 18. People of all ages will benefit from the adoption of policies and programs such as making neighborhoods walkable, feature transportation options, enable access to key services, provide opportunities to participate in community activities, and very importantly to support housing that is affordable and adaptable. Age-Friendly Solana Beach looks at equity and aims to work to eliminate disparities to fairly serve all residents, especially older adults. The City of Solana Beach is committed to providing meaningful and relevant services to residents of all ages specifically to older residents with a vision to keep them active and healthy while residing in this city.
Take the Survey!

The survey will focus on various topics such as, Outdoor Spaces and Public Places, Transportation, Housing, Social Participation, Respect, and Social Inclusion, Work and Civic Engagement, Communications and Information and Community and Health Services.
If you are 50 years old, or older, we invite you to participate in a survey. You will be asked about your priorities for helping Solana Beach residents to age well. Thank you!
